Letter to Victorian Premier - 2021 Duck Hunting Season

The Animal Law Institute recently wrote to the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews MP, expressing concerns regarding duck hunting and urging the Labor Government to ban the 2021 season.

As a community legal centre and animal protection organisation, ALI holds animal protection concerns with duck hunting, and has no confidence that the Game Management Authority (GMA) will properly manage the 2021 season. This is because the GMA (which is responsible for the compliance and enforcement of the Wildlife Regulations 2013 (Vic), the Wildlife (Game) Regulations 2012 (Vic) and other relevant guidelines), have demonstrated a track record of a lack of prosecution despite the significant complaints received each season to date.
